My best artwork this semester to me was the last one I did which was the "Bee Series." It was my favorite because I love bees and I loved the idea that I had. I also really liked this artwork because I thought it turned out better than any of my other ones. The artwork I would like to redo is my "World" one because it didn't turn out at all and it was a last minute thing I did. I learned that advice is a really big you can take on in life that would really help you and we use advice ALL the time in art class. I wish in art class we did like a partner project. I think it would be a good and fun time because we would be able to hangout with someone and maybe see if we have to same interest and we could make that into a artwork. My artworks are a bee theme. One of them is a beehive and it is hanging from a branch, the background is blue with some white and on one side of the beehive is glitter paint. The second one is a gold like honey dripping and it's outlined with black and that's kinda my theme also is a bold dark outline with all of my artworks. The third is my favorite, it's a bee and in the inside of the bee it's the same as the background but with glitter . The background is gold and white. I created my atwork with thinking of an idea than I sketch the ideas on the canvas. The media I wanted to use were oil pastel crayons but I didn't like the way it looked on the canvas so I did acrylic paints. I don't really have a big idea with my artwork except I really love bees but it kinda follows as the main things about bees and what they do. My goals for this artwork were I get the bee to look more realistic then the other paintings because bees are the main focus on this artwork series. And I really wanted a "Pop" in the artwork so I added gold paint and gold glitter. My overall thoughts are this is my favorite artwork because I think it turned out better than any other ones and I stuck with my idea unlike other ones I have done I didn't stick with the plan.My artwork is meaningful because it shows about how bees are important in life and without them there's nothing. So I hope that my artwork can show people and make people think about bees. My intended audience is everyone and especially people who don't understand that bees are a big part in life. I would put my artwork outside so that one people walk by and see the bee paintings that they start thinking more about them. This artwork means related to me because I really do appreciate bees. Art is a reflection of life because everything you see used art and art to me is imagination.
I originally made this artwork for my uncle and aunt but I didn't like the look of it so I made something to represent the bad in our world so we could make a change. I got a lot of input from my classmates and Mrs. Underhill. From my classmates they thought I should of stuck with my original idea but I didn't like the look of it and then I showed them what I could do with the artwork and they like the idea. From Mrs. Underhill she helped me of what other ideas I could do and help me think and I thought of many Ideas and came up with the one I have now. I made a thought of revisions because I had an artwork in mine and started to make it but when I was almost done I looked at it and did not like the look of it. So instead I flipped over the artwork and started a new one. Some problems when I was making the new artwork was the paint because I did words and the watercolor would run down or bleed, so I just did less water and that really helped. The materials I used were very expensive watercolor paper, watercolor and coffee. I first used the coffee to soak the paper to make it looked old. Then I started to draw the world with watercolor. And the last thing I did was making all the words in the background to show the bad things that are happening or will happen in the future. For this artwork so far, I got a lot of input from Mrs. Underhill. She has helped me with making the material and deciding what would look best or be more useful. I have also gotten feedback from my classmates to do see if I should do this or not or maybe just to see if this would work. I reflected on some parts of my artwork from my classmates like an example was I wanted to paint over my artwork with watercolor but my classmate didn't think it wouldn't be the best but I painted over it anyways and my artwork actually kinda go as planned because the watercolor melted the acrylic paint. So next I will try to focus more on feedback for good purposes. I plan on revising my artwork so it looks like I wanted and not like it is right now. The challenging part of this artwork is the mixing of the paints because I didn't think the paint would mix and blend. And making the material for the paper I wanted was also very challenging because it took awhile because I didn't always have the material I didn't have at the time. Problems arised when the paint mixed and when I always didn't have the material at the time.
For my artists observe artwork, I'd like to make an artwork about...
We have been observing artwork this week. In class we had to take an object and draw the object in different ways. Some ways were shadowing, negative space, detail, timing, quit sketch. The hardest for me and probably doesn't make sense is the quit sketch. I thought this was the hardest because I like to see my artwork detailed and nicely looking. The timing was also hard. it was hard because when we had only 1 minute to draw I didn't like it because it was sloppy and poor created. The easiest for me was the detail because like I said I enjoy taking my time on an artwork and the quality of the work.
Explore & Develop
An artist I seeked out for my artwork was Banksy. I used his artwork by taking the artwork "hope" and replacing some objects for something else. inspiration were bees and how to set them free. I had many ideas but the one that stuck out was the one to let them free from there cage. Making the artwork I used paint and metallic paint and I used sharpie. I was observing the way the hand was on the original artwork and it got me thinking of letting go. The new material I used was metallic paint which I really liked and would like to use that again in another artwork. I practice by trying the colors and mixing them to see what I like and that's when I thought about the metallic paint and I also sketch my artwork out multiple times before sketching it on the canvas. Recently in painting we've been practicing appropriation and how it works. And were looking at different artworks and different artist. I've been thinking of Edgar Degas for an artist because I really like the style he does and how he does more of old paintings. I think I'm going to take a poor person painting that he had made and change it by making them rich and not poor or I was thinking doing a painting of someone failing and changing it by making it successful. Another artist I really like is Kehindy Wiley because he switches up artworks like I would like to do with the other artworks I would like to do.
The materials I used were acrylic painting and watercolor. Some things that surprised me with the acrylic were all the techniques you can actually do. Like mixing all the colors and making all the color traits and wheel. Things that surprised me with the watercolor were how much it can bleed through your paper or how dark you can get it to. I would like to use the acrylic again because I like that it doesn't bleed through the paper and because you can water it down. I wouldn't want to use the watercolor because you can't really make it thick because you add water to it to make the painting.
